The time had finally come last weekend: Westfield Ruhr Park celebrated not just its 60th birthday – but also an impressive rebranding! Thousands of visitors flocked to the Bochum shopping destination from 26 to 28 September 2024 to join in the celebrations and experience the centre’s new look.
The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the big stage programme on Thursday evening. From 6:30 pm, the plaza was filled with curious visitors eagerly awaiting the star guest. The surprise really worked: none other than Nico Santos took to the stage and thrilled the audience with his hits. The atmosphere was exuberant, and people danced and sang along with great enthusiasm. The absolute highlight, however, was Herbert Grönemeyer’s mega hit “Bochum” during the fireworks display at the end. A goose-bump moment, for sure!
Numerous attractions for young and old
But it wasn’t just the concert that attracted the crowds. The numerous activities organised as part of the Shopping Days were also extremely well received. The “Mosaic Wall”, where visitors could leave their own photos, became an absolute favourite with the public.
The Social Vending Machine brought fun and excitement, and the “Dry Surfer” wave attracted sports enthusiasts who ventured onto the board. There was plenty for the younger guests to experience in the Kids’ Zone, and Martin Pfeiffer’s hands-on concerts on Saturday made children’s eyes light up.
Tradition meets modernity at Westfield Ruhr Park
All in all, the event was a resounding success and a worthy start to the future of Westfield Ruhr Park. Visitors were delighted by the combination of first-class entertainment, creative activities and an emotional reference to their beloved “Ruhrgebiet” metropolitan region. Westfield Ruhr Park set new standards with this rebranding event and impressed visitors right across the board.
