Revolutionary water cube: “Waterdrop” inspires shoppers

Key Facts
  • Promotion for the innovative "Waterdrop" water cube at kiosks
  • Start-up known from TV show "Die Höhle der Löwen" represented in several URW centres
  • Free testing of the entire product range

“Drink more water!” With this slogan and a small cube, the Austrian start-up “Waterdrop”, founded in 2016, conquered the shopping centres of Unibail Rodamco-Westfield (URW). Thirsty shoppers could take a break at visually appealing, wooden kiosks in the middle of the busy malls and refresh themselves with a tasty sample of the innovative drink. The world’s first micro-drink in the form of a mini effervescent tablet not only convinced with its fruity aroma in six different flavours. The added vitamins also ensured that the testers could continue their shopping trip with renewed energy.

Berlin, the Ruhr region and Munich: “Waterdrop” – already known to many from the TV show “Die Höhle der Löwen” (The Lion’s Den) – has taken the step from purely online sales to bricks and mortar retail with branches in the Gropius Passagen, Westfield Centro, Riem Arcaden and Pasing Arcaden. Right across Germany. The stylish stands proved to be real eye-catchers. And the free samples of the sugar-free drink gave many a visitor a taste for it.

The hot drink “Microtea”, the latest product of the Austrians, which can also be made with small cubes, also convinced the testers. Whether water or tea – those who couldn’t get enough after the first sip had the opportunity to purchase their favourite flavours right on the spot. Real fans also grabbed the noble and reusable “Waterdrop” drinking bottles made of high-quality glass and stainless steel.

Successful launch into the retail trade

The combination of revolutionary products presented in a modern design in the country’s hippest metropolises turned out to be a success for the start-up: the demand for the miracle cubes quickly surged due to the promotion. No wonder, because with its eye-catching stands, “Waterdrop” caught the eye of mall passers-by. And since shopping centres are a popular meeting place for all those looking for special shopping inspiration, high demand was an almost inevitable consequence. This made it all the easier for the start-up to decide to operate the kiosks on a permanent basis. With success: the hip drink is now also available at another location in the Höfe am Brühl in Leipzig.
